View Full Version : More Cubic Inches
I figured I'd place this in the War Room cause it'll get moved here anyways. Bigger motor on the way for the Z28, the small block hauled azz so just imagine for a second what a big block will run like in that car. You'll have to leave on the staging light to beat me is all I can say. Its gonna be one fast Nitrous plate fed Fogger smoking BBC!!!! If I can dead hook this thing globe will stop spinning and the world will loose 8 seconds every time I race.

I thought that was top secret stuff...guess you can't hide a big block too well though, so...

wow, that should be a fun ride! still gonna use the stock driveshaft? lol
I never could keep a secret long, an BigDogs ole hood will draw some suspicion, especially if that Dominator sucks a big hole in it!

Is the pig block going to be respectable? It should be impressive no doubt. But will it be both????

Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're ALL "stock". Til you open the hood, a door, the trunk, etc etc.
Does NASA know what you have goin on in the trunk of the Z, or are they the ones that TOLD you what to do there??? LOL
Sounds like a wheels up single digit horror show to me!!!! Giiiiiiddy Up!!!!!

When people ask what size big block it is. Just tell them its not. Say its 2 HUGE 4 bangers put together. If one 4 banger shuts down on me. i can flip a swtich and the other 4 banger takes over to finish the race hahahah.
and if thye ask if it has a turbo. tell them the alternator is it lol.,
i dont know my buddy did that before with his 460 in his stang. still the peopel were dumb enough ot belieave him i think. they were inporters who asked the questions lol.

Its a pig block, I'd expect at least high 11's from it. I'd ditch the plate and fogger though, just get a purge, the cool factor is what counts anyway.

.... big block, eh i thought i'd never make it over to one but damn if i didn't. it fills up the engine bay nicely. Kinda $$$$. TONs of torque. I think u'll be happy. Mine n/a should of ran high 11's if i would of set it up and drove it hard. 8.5 to 1, blower cam.
If u didn't ge ta new driveshaft look at the place in olean ny where i went nasty and big dog went there also definately good products to beat on.
New driveshaft is already broke in, 151.5mph with the sbc. Now we'll see what a big block can do in it. It'll have torque like no other.

ya my bbc is tempermental, it just likes to spass out and spin my tires all the time instead of hookin go figure, i think u should have some fun with it at the track, they love fuel well mine does at least.
Just some advice. I really wouldn't use a stock driveshaft with a big block. The torque you are gonna gain will twist it to death, and it usually end up breakin the case on the trans when the driveshaft breaks. Seen it happen to a few guys. Just my .02
I've got a 3'' shaft on it an use footbrake Yogi, theres nothing that'll last forever.
Sounds cool. Just looking out for your best interest ($$$$$$$$).
Thanks Yogi, if can be broke, I'll break it, thats for sure. But i ain't afraid to tear it up to win or get a good number, I should restrain from that sometimes.
I'm reading this cam card today an seems like I got small block specs. This things way too small. The intake "lobe" lift is .490 with a duration of 286deg@.05 an the exhaust "lobe" lift is .477 with a 306deg@.05 duration.

sure it is , maybe at .300 lift !!! i aint stupit ya know !
Ya ain't reading deep enough BigDog, its all there for ya.

So its only like .800 lift cam then? Thats small.
Prolly a small block lobe ground on it by a drunkin machinist. I'll hit the base circle with an angle grinder a little to give it more lift, the lifters have little wheels that should roll over about anything.

Do it, thats an old circle track trick :fear: just use solid lifters for the first 500miles, they help smooth out any imperfection, at 7000rpm it polishes the grinds.

Yep, them guys know their shizzam! if ya think it'll work I'm on it. Think I'll smooth er up with a bastard file to help breakin, them grinder grooves should help hold oil at high RPM, am I right.
The new bullit arrived the other day an is patiently waiting on my slow azz to get the ole beloved 388 out, that big block got big shoes to fill cause the 388 was a mover. We had the new motor built with a similar platform as the small block, way too big of cam, too big of heads an too big of carb, with a stroker an a huge blast of juice to compensate for the lack of power when N/A. We'll see if the same theory works again in this engine, if it does work someone else will have to drive cause this beeotch will prolly scare the "mud" outta me!!!!
Could hardly wait to see it run!
How many cubes is it? You don't have to say exactly, just tell me how many cubes over, or shy of 500 it is and i will guess from there.
468 BBC an it'll be a runner.

468 eh someone callin me, :)
Dug out the Dyno sheet today for my motor. Torque is 792 @ 5800rpm an the Horses are 950 @ 6900rpm. Thats all she got on motor so I guess I have to rely on a lot a spray again this summer, the Big Shot plate an the ProFogger will have to carry the ole Z28 sense the motor's a little lazy!!!!
